Automobiles in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were contacted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.

A senior political figure said the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
