The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Over Size Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Backlash

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Modifications

Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
